Cancellations & Refunds

At The Backyarder we pride ourselves on having some of the most customer-friendly return policies in the industry. Cancel your order any time before it ships completely free of charge (exceptions apply to custom orders; see below)

Cancellations (Before an Order Ships)

If you need to cancel, contact us as soon as possible so we can issue a full refund before your order leaves the warehouse.

Cancellations of Custom / Made-to-Order Products

Custom or made-to-order products cannot be canceled or refunded once they enter production.

These units are built to your exact specifications the moment you place an order. Your warranty guarantees a fully functional product upon arrival. If you’re unsure whether an item is custom, please reach out before ordering.

All sales are final on custom and made-to-order products.


Refunds & Returns

  • Exchanges are allowed; the customer covers all round-trip shipping costs.

  • For outright returns (no exchange), a 25 % cancellation fee plus return shipping will be deducted from your refund. If you’re replacing the product with something else, we may be able to offset part of that cost—ask us for details.


Shipping Times

We dispatch all in-stock orders within 1–2 business days and typical delivery is 5–7 business days. Estimated lead times appear on each product page.

Unforeseen carrier delays can occur and are outside of The Backyarder’s control. We appreciate your patience and will keep you updated every step of the way.


Exchange Agreement – Please Read

By purchasing from The Backyarder you acknowledge:

  1. I will inspect the package on delivery, note & photograph any damage, and email evidence to support@thebackyarder.com within 24 hours.

  2. I am responsible for return shipping and outbound shipping on any replacement item.

  3. Returned items must be unopened and unused; additional restocking fees may apply.

  4. If my order has left the warehouse, I cannot receive a full refund.

  5. If I return an order that has shipped, I will pay return freight and a restocking fee (usually ~25 %, but varies by product).


Damages in Transit

When your item(s) arrive:

  • Note any external damage before signing for delivery.

  • Email support@thebackyarder.com within 24 hours with clear photos of the box, the SKU label, and the damage itself.

  • Claims filed after 24 hours or without photos/videos cannot be processed.


Warranty

Warranty terms vary by manufacturer; see each product page. Damage from normal use over time is covered by the manufacturer’s warranty—not by the freight damage policy above.


Returns (General)

The Backyarder’s default policy is that customers are responsible for all return-shipping or re-consignment charges caused by customer error, unless a product page states otherwise.

All products carry a guaranteed warranty—meaning you will always receive a fully functional item with no extra expense beyond the purchase price. See individual product pages for specifics.


BOGO Promotions

During Buy-One-Get-One offers:

  • Both items must be returned for a full refund.

  • Returning just one item?—You’ll receive either (a) a replacement of that item or (b) store credit equal to that item’s stand-alone value.

  • If the order has shipped, the buyer is responsible for actual return shipping and, if assessed by the manufacturer, any restocking fee.

  • Refunds are issued only to the original payment method.


Chargebacks

Our support team is committed to quick, fair resolutions—please contact us before disputing a charge. Filing a fraudulent chargeback constitutes theft and will be pursued to the fullest extent of the law.
